COSMETIC TREATMENTS
Peels

Peels are performed as an exfoliation treatment to remove superficial dead skin. In the process of shredding the dead skin cells, the growth of new healthy cells is stimulated. Peels are used to exercise the skin so it remains healthy and functions productively. Peels are suitable for those concerned with uneven skin texture or tone, acne, oil, dehydration, open pores, pigmentation, fines lines as well as general rejuvenation of the face, chest and hands.

Acne Peel

We LOVE (to get rid of) acne. Peels are a mainstay of our acne treatment plan. The peel chosen will depend on the type of acne. For congested ‘under the skin’ acne lesions (comedones) we would chose salicylic acid acid peels to help bring congestion to the surface and degrease the skin. Salicylic acid is also fantastic at helping treat blackheads. If the acne is red or pustular we may chose a more surface peel such as lactic acid. Often we will choose a combination of peels and layer them to treat the skin in one session. A course of peels for acne is usually suggested 2-4 weeks apart. Home care is an important adjunct to treatment of acne with peels. We can also combine peels with lasers to help with scarring, and medication as prescribed by our dermatologists.

Pigment Peel

There are many causes of pigmentation, and many types will get worse with laser and energy based treatments. Pigment peels are suitable for all types of pigment and safe in all skin types.

Lactic Acid and Pyruvic Acid Peels
Superficial epidermal pigment responds well to surface peels such as lactic cid and pyruvic acid.

Combination peels for melasma
Deeper dermal pigment may require deeper penetrating peels such as salicylic acid or combination peels such as Mela Peel. Melasma is often both superficial and deep and requires treatment with a combination peel that target all layers of the skin and adds retinol and other pigment inhibitors such as kojic acid.

Mela Peel
Reduces the appearance of pigment spots, epidermal melasma and post-inflammatory pigmentation. It improves tone and enhances the complexion. Mela peel also improves skin radiance, clarity and brightness.

Rejuvenation Peel

Rejuvenation peels give instant glowing party-ready skin! These skin peels have no downtime and usually contain smoothing ingredients such as lactic acid to smooth the skin and pyruvic to brighten and radiate. The particular peel chosen by our therapist would be in consultation with your individual skin needs. The skin is immediately smooth after the treatment and make up slides on effortlessly. Usually a rejuvenation peel would be combined with LED light to further enhance the effects and plump the skin.

Sun Damage Peel

Chemical peels are a fantastic way of smoothing dry sun damaged skin. Peel selection would depend on the type of sun damage. For example wrinkled, flakey dry skin may require an intense peel such as TCA which will have some shedding in the days afterwards. For more pigmented or red sun damage we may chose Mela peel or Salicylic or Lactic peels. In most cases you will receive several different peels in the one session to attend to different problems in specific areas of the face. A course of treatments maybe required to attend to the sun damaged skin.
