In 2015, Victoria was the FIRST state in Australia to Ban solariums and make them illegal to operate. This was after a young woman died in Melbourne from Melanoma, attributed to solarium use.  Infact a study in the Journal of American Dermatology has recently found that solarium use as little as 10 times in a lifetime can significantly increase your risk of skin cancer. 

So what is extremely concerning to me is that despite the known fatal effects of a solarium, and their illegal nature, they are still operating in back yards. These machines have no regulations, and the doses of UV could vary vastly. 'Skin Cookers' as I call them, are being raided by the health department in a crackdown on illegal operations.

No Tan is safe, least of all a backyard one!!
