Summer’s nearly here! Time to kick start that daily green smoothie ritual - packed with serotonin (AKA the feel-good hormone), vitamins and dense nutrients!
I’m in love with this recipe by home-grown wellness blogger, Lola Berry. This girl knows what’s up for everything wellness and is a go-to for days when I need a little self love and pick me up. You can even pick up her goodies on uber eats i discovered last Sunday :)
Her “serotonin smoothie” is filled with mood-boosting banana (high in tryptophan, which is the precursor to serotonin), leafy greens which are packed with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants (helping with inflammation, which can be the cause of all sorts of skin issues from eczema to acne). Plus loads of vitamin C and E protects against cell damage that can cause wrinkles. Avocado and coconut oil are also high in saturated fat - which is great for your brain!
Ingredients
- 2 cups coconut milk or almond milk
- 1 banana
- 1 cup chopped spinach or kale
- 1 avocado
- 8 tsp coconut oil
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3 Tbsp honey or maple syrup
Blend ridiculously well, in a high-powered blender. Nobody likes clumps in their smoothie!
