Collagen stimulators, also known as bio-stimulators, contain an injectable substance called poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Collagen stimulators produce a very natural and subtle result by rejuvenating and adding volume to the skin. Once it is injected, the microparticles inside the product is absorbed by the body and over time stimulate your skin to produce new collagen. PLLA as an injectable product has been used in medicine since 2004, when it was initially used to treat lipoatrophy (thinning of the fat pads on the face) associated with HIV patients.
Collagen, a protein found in our bodies, is an important structure that supports the shape and contours of the skin on the face. There are a number of factors that contribute to the ageing process, in particular the loss of this precious protein collagen. We begin to lose collagen from the age of 25 and once this process begins, we start to see signs of ageing. This can include volume loss, loss of skin elasticity, contour changes, sagging and facial wrinkles.
How collagen induction treatments work
PLLA is injected into the sides of the face (temples, cheeks, jawline), it works with your body to stimulate collagen production, a process called neocollagenisis. Once injected into the skin the results begin gradually around the 12-week point and tightening of the skin continues for 6-12 months. This means that the results are extremely subtle as it starts working overtime, unlike normal hyaluronic acid (HA) product when the gel is injected you see an immediate change. This means this treatment is perfect for those looking to achieve natural, subtle results. Collagen stimulating product is best suited to patients over 35 who want gradual results.

When will I see results?
Subtle natural results over time with collagen stimulators. Around the 12 week point you will start to notice that the skin regains volume & plumpness appearing more youthful. An improvement in skin texture, tightness, fine lines, wrinkles, and acne or other scarring takes a little longer with collagen stimulators than other types of injectables.

How many treatments will I need?
Collagen induction treatments are performed every 4- 6 weeks with most patients needing 2 or 3 treatments. Yearly maintenance with collagen induction is recommended to maintain results and give longevity to the treatment.

Are there any side effects from collagen stimulation treatments?
Collagen induction therapy commonly causes redness and swelling. Collagen treatments less commonly cause bruising and tenderness. All of this resolves within days.
Uncommonly lumps, bumps and pimples can occur with collagen stimulation treatments which resolve over weeks.

Yes if the effects are unwanted or need tweaking then Profilho dissolves in presence of Hyaloruindase (1 unit)

How long does Bio-Remodelling treatment last?
The treatment takes about 20 mins and it is recommended to have a treatment every 6 months.

How many treatments are required?
We suggest 2 treatments of 2mls, a month apart initially then one treatment every 6 months for maintenance.

Are Bio-Remodeling treatments painful?
Much like an wrinkle reduction, bio-remodelling treatments do sting a little but it is very short lived and settles within a few minutes. Generally local anaesthetic is not required and application of a simple ice pack afterwards can help any discomfort.
