Winter Warmer Laser Genesis

07-11-2023

Laser Genesis is one of our all time favourite treatments focusing on rejuvenation, redness, inflammation and general maintenance of skin health. We recognise this laser as a gentle, yet effective modality to help treat certain skin concerns. It is a safe laser, and generally runs little to no risk of side effects. It is not painful to receive and offers no downtime, which is why it is so popular.

The laser light is attracted to the deeper layers of the skin, and gently heats the skin to induce a cascade of events. In short, we are bulk heating the deeper layers of the skin to roughly 39-42 degrees Celsius, and it is maintained at this heat for a short period of time. Working in sections on the face or body, the technique of the laser allows for a gorgeous warmth to be felt by the skin - almost like you’re sitting in front of your fireplace. It feels like warm oil droplets falling over the skin. Our goal for Genesis is to heat up the dermis and induce a higher rate of healing. The target for this laser is vascular. With its attraction to redness, it coagulates the blood to shock proteins and capillaries, therefore targeting redness and collagen formation. It also has the capability to slow down over-active oil glands, and has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties for the skin.

At Skindepth, we appreciate this laser by not only using it as a stand alone treatment, but we do tend to combine with other modalities. We use Laser Genesis to focus on skin concerns such as redness, signs of ageing, pores, scarring, acne and post inflammatory marks. Generally, laser genesis can be a stand alone treatment, but we also enjoy combining this modality with superficial and advanced chemical peels, skin needling, LED light therapy and Radio Frequency skin tightening.

Post treatment, your skin may be slightly red, but generally only lasts for up to 2 hours. Genesis can be performed as frequently as every 2-4 weeks. It does require multiple sessions and your dermal clinician will advise your individualised plan for you.  If you would like to know more, simply give us a call or book a consultation with one of our Dermal Clinicians through the website.
